Ранние образцы видеокарты AMD Radeon RX 480 с 4 ГБ памяти, фактически, содержат 8 ГБ памяти.

После снятия системы охлаждения удалось обнаружить 8 чипов памяти Samsung K4G80325FB по 1 ГБ каждый, работающие на частоте 8 ГГц. Такие же чипы памяти используются в видеокартах Radeon RX 480 с 8 ГБ памяти и NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070. Таким образом, видеокарта XFX Radeon RX 480 с 4 ГБ памяти, фактически, оказалась версией с 8 ГБ памяти, но с ограничениями в BIOS.

Примеры использования VRAM в играх

В этих руководствах и на других страницах сайта одна из исследованных нами метрик — это размер запроса VRAM. Показатель VRAM, сообщаемый GPU-Z и другими инструментами, почти всегда является представлением запрошенной VRAM, а не фактическим использованием VRAM игрой. Это особенно верно в примере модов Skyrim, потому что для модов текстур с высоким разрешением оптимизируется мало, поэтому ресурсы требуются более агрессивно.Повышение качества текстур в играх увеличивает потребление видеопамяти. Процессы фильтрации текстур также потребляют VRAM. Сглаживание — следующий наиболее распространенный пример, когда многократное нажатие AA производит выборку пикселей с мультипликативным увеличением. 2xMSAA будет производить выборку каждого пикселя на экране дважды, например, для определения смешанного вывода пикселя.В более широком смысле, 4xMSAA и 8xMSAA будут выполнять выборку четыре или восемь раз на пиксель. При разрешении 1920×1080 это 1920 * 1080 = 2 073 600 пикселей, затем умноженное на количество отсчетов 4xMSAA для 2073600 * 4 = 8 294 400 отсчетов на кадр. При 60 FPS будет 497,6 МП / с. Это большой объем данных, и именно поэтому уменьшение сглаживания является одной из первых рекомендаций по восстановлению частоты кадров.
И это также требует большого объема видеопамяти во многих версиях AA. Временное сглаживание будет делать немного больше на вычислительной стороне, так как теперь оно происходит покадрово, а не покадрово, но мы не тестируем TXAA или TSSAA в этом анализе.
Методика испытаний
Мы тестировали с помощью нашего тестового стенда графического процессора, который подробно описан в таблице ниже. Мы благодарим поставщиков оборудования за поставку некоторых тестовых компонентов.
Для тестирования использовались последние версии драйверов AMD (16.6.2 RX 480 press). Для GTA V использовались драйверы 16.7.1, которые устраняют некоторые проблемы с заиканием, замеченные в обзоре. В настройках AMD Radeon мы отключаем всю «оптимизацию» графических настроек AMD, например методы фильтрации, тесселяции и AA. Каждая игра тестировалась в течение 30 секунд по одинаковому сценарию, затем повторялась трижды для проверки на четность. В некоторых играх есть несколько тестируемых настроек или API.
Измерены средние значения FPS, низкие значения 1% и 0,1% времени. Мы не измеряем максимальные или минимальные результаты FPS, так как считаем эти цифры чистыми выбросами. Вместо этого мы берем среднее значение из 1% самых низких результатов (минимум 1%), чтобы показать реальные заметные провалы; Затем мы берем среднее значение самого низкого 0.1% результатов при сильных всплесках.

Протестированные видеокарты
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Benchmark — AMD RX 480 4 ГБ против 8 ГБ
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate был возрожден на нашем стенде для сравнения RX 480. Shadow of Mordor Benchmark — AMD RX 480 4 ГБ против 8 ГБ
Shadow of Mordor будет запрашивать всю доступную VRAM по большей части, но это не означает, что она активно задействует эту запрашиваемую VRAM.

Metro: Last Light Benchmark — AMD RX 480 4 ГБ против 8 ГБ

GTA V Benchmark — AMD RX 480 4 ГБ vs.8 ГБ
